Baseline Language Analysis and Skills Assessment

This service is offered to individuals who are seeking a thorough analysis of their child's language and basic learner readiness skills. The goal of this service is to obtain a baseline evaluation using the Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills- Revised (ABLLS-R). The goal of the assessment is to provide an in-depth analysis of your child's skills and deficits to provide the family with recommendations for objectives to facilitate continued learning for their child. This service is completed with parent participation to allow for parents to understand what motivators work best with their child and to allow the parents to observe and gain training on how to use the analysis of behavior to assist in their child's progress. Parents are provided a detailed summary of their child's strengths and weaknesses at the end of the evaluation to include a prioritized area of global needs, specific objectives to facilitate these needs, and strategies on how to teach these objectives. Behavioral concerns will also be addressed and strategies for intervening will be outlined. Parents will also be provided a completed ABLLS-R grid documenting their child's current levels.

Summary of Goals:

  • Analysis of current skills
  • Analysis of motivational variables and reinforcement needs of child
  • Analysis of current behavioral deficits to be addressed
  • Recommendations for skill objectives to be addressed through intervention
  • Techniques to provide appropriate instruction to address outlined behaviors and skill objectives.
  • Completed baseline ABLLS-R grid to document baseline levels
Language and Learning Profile

This service is a unique combination of analysis, program development, and hands-on parent training and is offered to families who are seeking guidance in the development and implementation of their child's intervention services. The Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills Revised (ABLLS-R) will be referenced throughout the appointment.

Prior to the appointment, parents provide background information by forwarding written materials and videotape to our office. Our staff reviews the child's information and discusses the critical targets for intervention.

Throughout the visit skill areas are explored and analyzed through direct activity with the child and additional input is provided through observation and parent feedback. This is an informal process that enables our staff to demonstrate and narrate the main concepts and philosophy of our teaching methodology and the techniques of teaching verbal behavior within an intervention program.

Based on the beginning session, our staff will prioritize the focus and strategy based on the initial analysis of the child's skill areas in addition to the training needs of the family. Throughout the visit our staff will share, discuss, and exchange impressions with respect to teaching priorities ("what to teach") as well as strategies and techniques for the actual teaching process ("how to teach").

Written documentation is provided following the appointment and will include an overview of the child's skills' analysis, a description of our recommended language-training priorities, and a summary of teaching strategies for implementation. A separate document will outline specific language-training objectives.

This program is designed as a comprehensive service package that includes all intake services, pre-appointment clinical review, and either a 1-2 day (6 hour) clinical appointment.

Language and Learning Barrier Analysis

This service is designed for families with existing programs who are experiencing difficulties in, generalization and retention of skills, or slowed progress with existing teaching procedures. The focus of this service is an analysis of current program development, observation and analysis of the child's current repertories and hands-on parent training targeting recommendations on how to revamp programming towards the benefit of the child's progress. Defective repertories on the part of both teachers and child will be analyzed to determine areas of need. The Verbal Behavior Milestones Assessment and Placement Program (VB-MAPP) will be referenced throughout the appointment.

At the assessment, deficit or defective skill areas are explored and analyzed through direct instruction with the child and additional input is provided through observation and parent feedback. This is a semi-structured process that allows our staff to demonstrate and discuss the main concepts and philosophy of our teaching methodology and the techniques of teaching using a behavioral approach to language as an intervention program.

Based on the video review and beginning session, our staff will prioritize the focus of what skill areas need modification in addition to the training needs of the family. Throughout the visit our staff will collaborate with the family with respect to teaching priorities ("what to teach") as well as strategies and techniques for the actual teaching process ("how to teach").

Written documentation is provided following the appointment and will include a detailed analysis of the child's skills' level, defective repertoires of both the teacher and child, recommended skill objective priorities and strategies on how to teach these objectives for implementation.

This program is designed as a comprehensive service package that includes all intake services, pre-appointment clinical review, and either a 1-2 day (6 hour) clinical appointment.
